University of Bhagavata Culture inaugurated in Manipur

Imphal, Dec 10: The University of Bhagavata Culture, ISKCON Complex, Imphal, the first of its kind in the world, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the UBC, an autonomous varsity, will help in bringing universal peace and harmony. He said, “Many foreign students coming to the varsity will facilitate spreading the spiritual quality of our culture to other countries.”

Saying that India is a secular nation, the Chief Minister asserted that all religions long for peace and welfare for the humanity. UBC was set up by late Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami in the hope to bring universal peace and harmony, Ibobi said. Commerce & Industries minister Govindas Konthoujam was also present during the function.

The UBC is a centre for learning about the deeper meaning of life and the universe. The concept of this university is woven around the transcendental teachings of Srimad Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata Purana) the ripened fruit of the tree of Vedic literature.

Sri Sri Radha Krishnachandra Manimandir is the centrepiece of the University complex. Guided by the vision of Srila Prabhupada, the UBC will serve as a catalyst for presenting Bhagavata Culture globally in the 21st century and beyond for the welfare of humanity.
