Dimapur, APR 11: Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) consensus Lok Sabha candidate and chief minister Neiphiu Rio Thursday congratulated the people of Nagaland, Election Commission of India (ECI), state election department, government machinery and all agencies for the successful conduct of polling on April 9.

In a message, Rio said polling was peaceful all over the state and the process was conducted in a “smooth and efficient manner” except for one polling station in Longleng district.

He said the high voting percentage (84%) was amongst the highest in the country and the people of the state had come out to participate in the “most important exercise of democracy, the universal adult franchise.” The electorate of Nagaland has once again reposed faith on democracy and the people’s voice would be sounded though their vote, said Rio.

NPF lauds people, poll officials

Naga People’s Front (NPF) has lauded that Nagaland state election department, returning officers, the law enforcing agencies, departments and the electorates for the peaceful and successful conduct of the 16th Lok Sabha election in the state.

In a statement, NPF press bureau said the election in the state has been conducted “peacefully and satisfactorily” with enthusiastic participation of the electors. The party said the “people have spoken and now we wait for the outcome.”
