Itanagar, April 18 : The BJP in Arunachal Pradesh demanded the Election Commission to disqualify Congress candidate from Thrizino–Buragaon assembly constituency who, allegedly engineered a series of attack on BJP workers of the area since announcement of simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the State.

Presenting a chronology of incidents including serious physical assault, ransacking of buildings and burning down of several vehicles of BJP workers since March 25 last, party president Tai Tagak during a press conference today said that despite several complaint lodged with the Commission, no tangible measures were taken to conduct free and fair polls on April 9 last.

“Workers of Congress candidate Kumsi Sidisow have burnt down several vehicles of BJP cadres on March 25 last besides ransacking and setting ablaze two houses and critically injuring a BJP leader at Bhalukpong in West Kameng district on April 12 and 13 last,” Tagak alleged. “The Commission should disqualify the Congress candidate as he is solely responsible for the series of attack….We have enough evidence against him to prove his involvement,” Tagak claimed and added that the Congress in the State was resorting to unfair means due to fear of losing the elections.

Alleging that Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had instructed both the Deputy Commissioner and SP of West Kameng district to release the persons involved in the attack on BJP supporters, Tagak disclosed that the Chief Minister even assured to provide compensation to the victims. “The Chief Minister must come out clear on the entire gamut of the incidents and should explain the people on the status of the compensation likely to be paid,” Tagak said.

Apprehending more violence during re–polling in 34 booths on April 19 next, the party demanded the Election Commission to deploy adequate Army and para military forces for ensuring violence–free polling.
