Arunachal will soon frame policy and guidelines for film development in the state, says CM Tuki

Itanagar, December 29: While addressing media after inaugurating the curtain raiser programe of Film Northeast 2016 being organized by Department of Information and Public Relation in collaboration with Film Federation of Arunachal (FFA), Arunachal Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said that state government will soon frame policy and guidelines for film development.

Tuki stated that the Film Northeast will be held from Feb 17-20 next year and informed that the state government has funded Rs.1 crore for the festival.Welcoming the Festival Northeast 2016, Tuki hoped that the festival will open the gate of creativity in arts and films. “It is proud moment as well as privilege for Arunachal, as we are participating in Film Northeast 2016” CM said. The development of films in Arunachal will also boost the state tourism, CM added while citing that many places in India are popular due to Hindi film industry. Further, CM said that with completion of Film Institute at Jote, the state will have one of the best film institutes in India.

Earlier, Tuki released the IPR wall and table-top calendars. Later, he activated the festival website. Parliamentary Secretary IPR, Bamang Felix in his address termed the hosting of Film Northeast 2016 as a great achievement towards the arts and film.

Parliamentary Secretary IPR urged the film makers to let the world know that people of Arunachal are not lagging behind in terms of talents and creativity, news agency The Arunachal Times reported.

Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi also termed festival as harbinger of better cultural understanding of Northeast. Making a presentation on the event, Secretary IPR Sonam Chombay informed that objectives of the festival is to promote, understand and appreciate the diversity in cinema of Northeast India as well as showcase and nurture talent.

He further said that there will be two segments: competitive and non-competitive. Director, IPR CM Longphong, Festival Director Moji Riba and Film Federation of Arunachal (FFA) President Chopa Cheda among others were present on the occasion.
