Rajnath on two-day NE visit; meets Assam Rifles jawans, interacts with them

Chandel, February 13: The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday left on a two day tour of Manipur and Tripura. Rajnath Singh is accompanied by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju.

The Home Minsiter reached Moreh in Chandel district of Manipur and met the Assam Rifles jawans who guard India-Myanmar border at Moreh.

While ineteracting with them, Rajnath said that Moreh is small border town situated on the banks of Lokchao river and that the Centre has proposed an ICP here which will be functional soon.
While interacting with the jawans, he said that India-Myanmar border offers unique opportunity to open links and routes for trade & commerce with East Asian countries.

Rajnath mentioned that the Centre is looking forward to resolve border issues with Myanmar amicably through negotiation and assured that the Centre has almost completed process for opening two new battalions of security forces to absorb surrendered militants of NE.
