PM Modi flags off first train from Arunachal to New Delhi, says connectivity to boost tourism in NE

Itanagar, February 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday conveyed his greetings to the people of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on their 29th Statehood Day.
Early on Friday morning, PM Modi reached Itanagar and flagged off the first AC express train from Naharlagun to New Delhi and and the Inter-City Express between Naharlagun and Guwahati in presence of Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.

While addressing the gathering in Itanagar at 29th Statehood Day celebrations of Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi said that Indian Railways will give huge boost to tourism in the state and with the rail connectivity tourism will increase.
The Prime Minister spoke about the immense hydropower potential of Arunachal Pradesh. He gave examples of how Nepal and Bhutan were harnessing hydropower to transform their economy, and how Himachal Pradesh had done the same for India.
In his address PM Modi said that Arunachal Pradesh could provide electricity to the entire country. He called for development of the state's hydropower potential, simultaneously providing proper compensation to people who get displaced by hydropower projects.
Talking on Rail connectivity, PM Modi said that the rail network is the backbone of development and railways will emerge as strength for Arunachal Pradesh's development.

PM Modi said that Arunachal Pradesh is getting both 'Gati' and 'Urja' which are essential for the all round progress and that the Indian Railways network will bring prosperity to the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Nabam Tuki while addressing the gathering said that the skill development programme is showing encouraging results in the state and people of Arunachal Pradesh are privileged that the Prime Minsiter flagged off 2 trains.

Talking on the importance of education, PM Modi said that education is an important means to end poverty and a roadmap is needed to make all round development of the North Eastern region.
Emphasizing on North East as a tourist destination, PM Modi said that people of the nation and outside will see the beauty of North East and AC express train will prove to be an ''anmol nazrana' for the people of the nation.
While concluding his address, PM Modi said that connectivity by railways is the best gift for Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of its birthday. PM Modi said that the Ministers are in frequent visiting terms to the North Eastern states to make sure that there is proper functioning in the states.
PM Modi said that the Union Government plans to establish new six agricultural universities in the Northeast, and could become a major centre for organic farming famous around the world.
He said FM radio services would be expanded in the region. He said "Make in Northeast" was being envisaged as an integral part of "Make in India." 
The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen. Nirbhay Sharma (Retd.), the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Nabam Tuki, the Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu, the Union MoS for Railways Manoj Sinha, and the Union MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju were present on the occasion.
