Arunachal celebrates Statehood Day with pomp

Itanagar, February 23: The statehood day in Arunachal Pradesh was celebrated in a befitting manner at Subansiri stadium, Hapoli. The day was marked with cultural programme presentations from all the communities dwelling in Ziro.

The Statehood day running Volleyball tournament finals was also played. The first edition of the running trophy for all departments and panchayat saw eight teams participating. In a tough match that followed Agriculture-Horticulture department beat DC six to win the first edition of the tournament.
Statehood Day was celebrated at Daporijo in a befitting manner by organizing various cultural programmes and sports activities.
MLA and APEDA chairman Dikto Yekar unfurled the national flag at Rijo ground in presence of Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom, Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar.
A friendly football match was also played between DC/SP XI and MLA XI as part of the celebration, news agneyc The Arunachal Times reported.
Later, an interaction programme was organized at Menle Botom Tourist Lodge hosted by the Daporijo MLA which was attended by the Deputy Commissioner and all the Heads of Department and public leaders.
Cultural programme presented by Upper Subansiri Musical Association was the centre of attraction of the evening, informed Managing Director of Menla Botom Tourist Lodge, Dos Dasi.
Jalgaon The students of Arunachal Pradesh studying in various colleges and educational institutes in North Maharashtra celebrated Statehood day at Jalgaon by organizing various cultural programmes.
On the occasion, the students highlighted the history of Arunachal Pradesh and its rich cultural heritage.
The celebration was attended by Jalgaon MLA Smita Tai Wagh, Colonel KV Vittal, Commanding Officer, Jalgaon NCC, Subhada Kulkarni, Professor IMR College, Jalgaon and advocate Pravin Chandra Jangle along with other guests and dignitaries, informed Arunachal North Maharashtra Student's Union (ANMSU).
Women empowerment was the focal theme of the Statehood Day celebration at Chandigarh on February 20.
The celebration witnessed cultural programmes presented by all tribes and a fashion show with creative designs on traditional dresses that mesmerized the audience and MP and eminent Bollywood actor Kirron Kher who attended the celebration.
Besides students from North East, students from Himachal Pradesh, Hara-yana, (Faridabad, Yamuna-nagar, Patiala, Amabala), Punjab (Jallandhar, New Chandigarh, Dera Bassi, Ludhiana), Dehradun and Chandigarh along with their lectures and professors attended the celebration.
Dr. Stazin dawa Regional Director Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Chandigarh conducted a youth development workshops for Arunachal students on the sideline of the celebration.
Few critically acclaimed movies provided by CCRD, Itanagar were also screened on the occasion. The programme was organised by Youth NetIndia, an organisation working for youth development.
