Vodafone boosts connectivity in Arunachal; launches network in Daporijo, Aalo and Basar

Itanagar, April 4: In view of connecting the North Eastern states of India to the rest of the country and to make communication possible and accessible, Vodafone India in its continuous endeavour to strengthen network and connect different geographies, has announced the launch of its network in Daporijo in Upper Subansiri District and Aalo and Basar in West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh.

With this launch, Vodafone becomes the first private telecom operator to expand its tentacles in Upper Subansiri. The formal inauguration programme at Daporijo is likely to be on 4th April 2015.

In North East Circle, Vodafone operates in seven states spanning across more than 18,540 towns and villages diverse in demographic landscape, catering to an equally diverse populace in terms of culture and language.

Presently, with over 4670 cell sites, 75,000 plus distribution touch points and more than 280 plus retail touch points, Vodafone offers one of the most robust network connectivity to an overall subscriber base of 4.5 million in Assam and North East.

Vodafone had earlier announced its network expansion to Zero Point, Bomdila, Rupa and Tenga in West Kameng District and with this further expansion Vodafone would now cover approximately 385 towns and villages and more than 27 percent of the population in the state, news agency The Arunachal Times reported.

Vodafone has so far deployed almost 110 cell sites across the state and continues to expand its network across Assam and North East Circle.

"We are now fully equipped to provide superior connectivity and service to our valued customers in these hitherto unconnected areas" Gujral added.

For the first time, these distant customers will be able to exercise their choice for services and seamlessly connected to the rest of the country. We are further ramping up our network as part of our ongoing commitment to enhance our customers' mobile experience by offering them an uninterrupted service, Vodafone Business head said.

Commenting on the expansion, Pushpinder Singh Gujral, Business Head - Assam and North East, Vodafone India said, "We at Vodafone India feel extremely proud to announce the expansion of our network presence to Daporijo, Aalo and Basar.
