Mizoram lad Lalrina wins Northeast Snooker C'ship

Aizawl, May 21: Lalrina Renthlei from Mizoram became the first champion of 1st Star Cement Northeast Snooker Championship tournament.

This snooker championship has been organised by Mizoram Snooker & Billiards Association (MSBA) which was started from 12th May and inaugurated by Mizoram Sports Minister Zodintluanga.

The 1st Star Cement Northeast Snooker Championship concluded recently with final championship match between Lalrina Renthlei of Mizoram and Lawma of Mizoram at MSBA Hall, Hawla Indoor Stadium, Republic Vengthlang, news agency The North East Today reported.

Altogether, 42 players from four states of North Eatern India namely Assam, Mizoram, Meghalya and Nagaland participated in this tournament which includes top cueists Sukumar Barman from Assam, Amar Sharma from Meghalaya, John Calvin from Nagaland and Mizoram’s own National Junior Champion Lalrina Renthlei among many others.

Lalrina lifted the championship trophy along with the cash award of Rs 52,000 and Lawma lifted the runner up trophy along with the cash award of twenty five thousand.

The highest breaker awarded was given to Lalrina of Mizoram with a break score of 64 .
